Iván Pinos Cabezas

Iván earned his BSc in Human Nutrition from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and his MSc in Nutrigenomics from the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain). In 2018, he began his PhD in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he investigated the role of retinoic acid in shaping macrophage phenotypes and its protective effects in the context of atherosclerosis. In 2022, he continued his postdoctoral training at the NYU School of Medicine, focusing on novel regulators of platelet activity and aggregation to support the development of
antithrombotic therapies. Iván joined the de Lázaro Lab in 2025 and he is studying both in vitro and in vivo cardiomyocyte reprogramming to develop regenerative therapies aimed at treating various cardiac pathologies.
